Taxation and Assessment

Assessment and Taxation in the Village of Youngstown are guided by the provincial Municipal Government Act. Taxes raised support the services we deliver and help us ensure the Village is sustainable into the future.

Property assessments reflect the amount of money the property would be expected to be sold for on the open market (market value). Note that market value is not necessarily the amount that would be received if the property was placed on the market as a number of factors can affect the actual value of the property. The Village also assesses non-residential property and farmland properties.

Property taxes are then calculated by applying the Tax Rate, which can be found in the Tax Rate Bylaw: Reports and documents.
