The Village of Youngstown is located in the heart of southeastern Alberta’s ranch country, just a short drive from the towns of Hanna and Oyen, and close neighbours with the many farmers and ranchers – and their families—who live in the surrounding rural “Special Areas.”
Our village and region hold great promise for business investment, residents, and visitors. The area draws many tourists each year and provides abundant recreational opportunities for residents. In the Village of Youngstown and Harvest Sky Region, you’ll find beautiful natural scenery, a pristine environment, and a rich cultural and historic heritage to explore.

Calgary and Red Deer are both about 2.5 hours away—easy drives for accessing the benefits of these urban centres.
Adventure awaits in Youngstown. Throughout the region, there are numerous trails to hike and our abundant wildlife attracts animal lovers as well as those who enjoy hunting and fishing. We’re also right next door to Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, the Canadian Badlands, and Dinosaur Provincial Park, as well as the Royal Tyrell Museum, Horseshoe Canyon, and Blood Indian Park, where visitors of all ages can have unique experiences.
The Rural Development Network (RDN) Sustainable Housing Initiative is working on behalf of the Special Areas Regional Economic Development and Harvest Sky Region Economic Development to gather community perspectives regarding affordable housing in the Special Areas and surrounding communities. To understand the housing situation in the Special Areas and surrounding communities, we need to hear from the residents. The questions in this survey are to collect public opinions on the current housing situation and the need for affordable housing. The survey will take roughly 8 minutes to complete and will help assist in the final Housing Needs Assessment Report.
Deadline to complete the survey is October 16th.
The Harvest Sky Region is a strong and proud community that supports our existing businesses, and works to attract investors, residents, and visitors who will help our region grow and prosper. Our member municipalities include the Village of Youngstown, the Town of Hanna, and Special Areas No.2.
